Sky customers spending more than £400 a year
« on: May 02, 2007, 18:41 »
Sky has announced its figures for the first three months of 2007, and things are looking rosy.

Critically, the ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) is up to £406 per year (from £394 over the last quarter) - very good news for Sky, which also saw customer numbers rise by 51,000 to just under 8.5 million.

High Definition has been the big seller; especially good news as HD customers pay for their set-top box too. Sky now has 244,000 customers signed up for HD content.

Sky+ also saw significant gains, adding another 199,000 subscribers to the TV-time-shifting service, taking the total to 2.167 million, or about 25 per cent of subscribers.

Sky could do with some good news right now. It's been a rough week for the company, with investigations into ITV ownership from Ofcom and the Office of Fair Trading, and Virgin Media making good on its promise to drag the company to the High Court. ®
