Epson Printer
« on: February 26, 2003, 11:36 »
I have an Epson C62 printer, which is working absolutely fine, but I wondered if anyone else, using an Epson, found the pop up panel, each time a print job is started, mildly irritating?

Has anyone found a way to disable this?  I know it gives useful information about ink cartridge levels, but I'd like to just have it as an option.  I've been through all the options and settings I can find, but nothing seems apparent.

Thanks for that Hook - I usually use Cartex.co.uk, but I'll give that one a look.  I actually got an extra set of cartridges from the Computer Fair where I got the printer from.  £75 all in.  Not a bad deal, but I expect some    will say I could have got it cheaper.   ;D ;D

Edit: Just checked out Cartex prices, and if you buy them singly, it's £10.99 per set, but if you buy 3 or more sets (1 blk 1 clr) they are £8.99 per set!   ;D

Further edit: Just seen the catch - Cartex is excl. vat, but still only £14 for the pair, and that's if you only buy the one.

Has anyone else given up buying 'clone' cartridges for use with their Epson?  My Stylus II 600 all but died on the three occasions I tried to save a few bob and bought cheaper carts.

The other thing that guarantees I'll buy HP next time, is the scarcity of cartridges stocked for my model now.  Does Epson seriously think it's going to starve me into upgrading to a newer Epson printer?

When our local ASDA were clearing out obsolete stock, they were knocking out genuine Epson carts (colour and mono) that fitted my 600, at a fiver each.

I bought 35 quids worth and still have 5 carts left.  When I've run out I'll go with HP.  I have one on my desk at work and prefer it to my 600 by a mile.
