http:// I am in a position now where I have MSN8 and SBC yahoo {SBC came as a result of free trial }along with promise of lower rates . Well I think I want to junk both providers and go with a different provider .Wow do I uninstall both COMPLETLY? SBC is powerfull in that it seems to take over , over MSN and it pops up every where I want to get away from both I am sure there are cheaper and easier to navigate systems available.Can some one help me ?

If I understand you correctly you mean that these ISPs have their own logos and links in the browser similar to Freeserve and AOL and a few others ?
I think you may be stuck with them even after you have finished using their services.
It may be worth trying,(after you have finished with them and signed up with a new ISP ), going into control panel,then Add/Remove and clicking on IE.It wont let you uninstall it but will give you the option to repair it. Not sure if it will remove the stuff you want that way or not.
You could always try this ieradicator program from here

Which should remove IE and then allow you to reinstall it from your windows CD

Hi Genem56,

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but do you have Internet Explorer installed, or have you just been using MSN as your browser?  Also, what's SBC?  Sorry!   :-[

You should just be able to uninstall MSN with Add / Remove programs in your Control Panel, then, if you haven't already, you can install Internet Explorer.

If this is an ISP branding problem, like Sandra suggested, you might want to click here for a handy guide to all things IE.  There is a section here for removing ISP branding, but it does involve a journey into the registry, which I would only advise someone to attempt if they have some experience.

If you could provide a little more information please.

I assume you are using Windows XP Home Edition as the operating system

Now, is it the search bars, and icons on the Internet Explorer toolbar you want to get rid of, and hte icons from the desk top too? OR as has been suggested do these applications put their own browsers on your machine?

If you want to remove these programs, then the best way is to try and uninstall them. THere may be an option that is already there to remove the programs.

thanks for the replies I can provide more info. I'm running windows 98 fe.As far as I am concerned the 2 providers are just wasting space on my computer.If I try to get rid of the SBC Yahoo it's still appearing on my browser. Maybe I have to run my quick restore disk but then I would have to reinstall everything Digital camera and photo software ,printer,media player and much more....? ps I would use IM but I,m not sure how I've never used it since I bought the computer {Compaq Presario  5062  I only use the E mail for comm. So I suppose I need a rundown on that too sometime   genem56

OK, you can disable the Yahoo toolbar on the browser, I've just done it  

Click on "View" on the top of the IE browser, now highlight on "Toolbars" and a list of toolbars should appear on the right. Untick the "Yahoo companion" and you should find the Yahoo toolbar disappear
