Success!!! I have just fitted my fan adaptor and new 80mm fan  ;D On full load my CPU only went to 52C  :o which is 6C cooler and the heatsink is 4C cooler. System temperature is only 45C which is 6C cooler and my HDD goes from 30 - 65 as normal  ;D I took pictures of the whole install process with my new digital camera so I'll post a review/install topic soon enough  ;)

EDIT: Slipped in again Tony  :P I put mine facing the HS so air was blasting into it. High pressure air was pushing at the back though, I think this is what's causing my whole system to cool  ;D As for system fans when I get my 3 LED fans there will be 2 intake and 1 exhaust as I already have a system exhaust in a PCI slot and my PSU  :)

Way to go Robo,

two intake and two exhuast fans eh, that should keep it really cool.

On my PC besides the PSU and CPU fans, I have an exhaust fan and a intake fan. However as I was comparing like for like with this new PC I've built, I had the intake fan disconnected. But I reconnected it tonight.....CPU 43C. System 34C. and Ambient 27C.
Running the intake fan seems to reduce the CPU and System temps by 4 and 3 degrees respectivley.

The view is, the cooler the system the longer it will last. Leading on to another question,  anybody sell their 'babies' on when they upgrade ?

I'm sorry, Tony, but there's absolutely no way that Pc-Pals could ever condone the practice of swapping babies for computers.  I'd be happy to swap next door's cat for a half-decent printer, though.  Feel free to PM me with your postal address and just hope the Royal Mail don't go on strike.

Whey yet another cooling success! Just installed my 3 Blue LED fans and seem to keep the system a lot cooler. Just about to go run it through the grinder with a game of Desert Crisis, that'll heat it up  ;)

Naaah, Tone!  My Edison Stylus 600 is still going strong, via my Netgear FR114P amazingly enough.  I'd just have liked something a bit newer for when my stock of ink runs out and my enquiries into getting some more are met with the same kind of expression you could expect if you'd asked them for a Bakelite radio.

Shame about the cat deal, though.  Mind you, I can't recall seeing a single one in our garden ever since I sellotaped your photo in our front window.

I have my 2000XP now running at 42C with the case side open. At the end of the month I will be making an Acrylic side panel with a 120mm fan on it. Any ideas on the best place to put it? I was thinking of the bottom corner near the PCI slots  ???

I would be very cautious in my approach, Robo.  As well as disturbing the flow of air through the case front-to-back, you're also building a giant Hoover which will happily clean your room of any dust and smoke particles and deposit them in your case.  Cute is good.  Fluffy isn't.

My case is already full of holes  ;) They never gave me any extra expansion slot covers or bay drives. Anyway my room isn't that dusty. My PC feels sorry for the other one  ;) Dust is everywhere in the other room because my brother doesn't hoover or dust  :o

Your right about the dust Rodders, on my Suntek case there is an fan support assembly [for want of a better word] That is postioned to suck cool air in from the front /side and blow over the HDD bays.

So I bought an extra fan, drilled the case side and let it whizz. Boy does it drag the dust in, of course on installing intake fans you don't think it would be a problem. But thankfully most of it gathers on the fan housing, and the fan it's self.

So where should I put my fan? I'll get a dust filter as well  :)

Intake fans should be positioned as close to the front of the case as possible. With the exhaust fans at the back, thus insuring a cool flow of air over the HDD's and the system board eventually rising to the top to be exhausted by those fans.

Fitting bang in the middle of a side panel may look nice an sysmetrical but will most likely hinder the correct flow of air.
